RESOURCE
Guardian
Angels School is fortunate to have a Resource Room to
serve the students identified with a learning
disability. However, we do have students that have
other special educational needs. We rely on the West
Point Public School for assistance with identifying and
testing our students.
If a teacher
in one of the classes feels that a student might be
having a learning problem, she/he fills out an SAT
(student assistance team) referral. The SAT consists of
teachers in the lower, middle, and upper elementary
grades along with the principal, the resource room
teacher, and representatives from the public school. If
the team feels there might be a disability, it may
recommend testing. The testing is conducted by the WPPS.
Respect,
cooperation, and friendliness characterize this
relationship. Mr. Lee Frye, the special education
director, conducts our meetings. He and his staff are
the case managers of our IEP's (individual educational
plan). If the student is identified with a speech or
language problem, Pat Hotovy, a speech and language
pathologist, will work with him/her.
